HD audio has no amplify option shown, but sounds the exact same as having AC97 selected. The amplify problem isn't really resolved as I can't change between performance and extreme.

Since using the 7121 drivers that green bar now goes all the way to the top and my audio is much louder which sounds fantastic. I noticed with every driver newer than 7121 the green audio bar in the volume mixer would only go about 1/4 up despite having the volume at 100%. I've been for several months dealing with quite low audio regardless of how many drivers I tried. Just saying I've uninstalled and installed every driver version and the 7121 linked in this thread worked great for me. (Tested with onboard/cpu gpu - no whine asus 460 gtx sapphire hd5450 msi r9 270x hawk.) The more powerfull/power-hungry graphics card -> the intese (to some degree of volume) whine there is. (Also whole computer disassembled on the desk, nothing was close to the audio cable.) The audio module is catching the noises from motherboards bus when you have discrete graphics card installed. Tested with two headphones and two different HD audio cables of which one is double shielded. Try run some game and put sound/music volume in the game down. Through front audio I hear data whine/crackle when there is something heavy data related running (e.g. Otherwise is sound/music play clear through rear output. etc.) and during shutdown there is one massive crack. Through all outputs I hear gentle crack when sound driver loads (during windows startup then again before you play first sound in OS when you put headphones to jack and then select source in audio driver when prompted. Tested all three rear outputs plus front panel output.ĭidn't have any strange sounds as the ones you reported, perhaps do a clean install? No matter what I select in BIOS (AC97 vs HDAudio), AMP option and sound amplified is only through front panel audio.
to enable rear output amplifier, change front panel type to AC97.
